Macbeth Essay The notorious Shakespearean play Macbeth illustrates a natural evil and greed for power present in the human race. Even in modern times, society relates to Macbeth as people are consistently striving for a higher rank and power.Macbeth 's inner conflict arises from his desire to kill Duncan, King of Scotland, and his conscience tells him is wrong. The conflict is the key to Macbeth 's character development and it leads him to clash with other characters, notably MacDuff, with whom he fights in the play 's dramatic conclusion.Macbeth Conflict There were many struggles that Macbeth faced throughout the story. They were supernatural, internal, and external. Although many of the characters play a part in Macbeth’s demise, it was his own choice.
Everyday people deal with conflicts with their peers. In the play Macbeth there are both examples of external and internal conflicts. Three main conflicts were when Lady Macbeth pressured Macbeth into murdering Duncan, after Macbeth murdered Duncan and also after he murdered Banquo.The conflict escalates as Macbeth has Macduff's family killed while Macduff is England trying to gather forces to depose Macbeth. It then culminates in a one-on-one battle between Macduff and Macbeth, which Macduff ultimately wins.
Macbeth murders his cousin to become the king, and that act sets him on a downward trajectory that has him committing even more heinous crimes. Though Macbeth is fighting with and killing many other characters in the play, the main conflict is an internal one, between Macbeth's ambition and his morality.
